The paradox holds in an infinitely dividable setting. Take the series of numbers where the next number equals the previous one divided by 2: {1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16…}. If you take the sum of this infinite series (there is always a larger factor of two to divide by) you are going to get a finite result (namely 2, in this instance). So for the real life example, while there is always another ‘half’ of the distance to be travelled, the time it takes to do so is also halved with every iteration.

Does this include Candy Crush an mobile gaming in general? I’d say that people who play something on their phone every now and then won’t be foaming from their mouths because of something like this. It’s really annoying. I was looking for a smart wearable with blood oxygen monitoring, and couldn’t find much useful info on reddit/Google so I asked bing chat. Instead of giving a useful answer it was parroting some bullshit about these gadgets not being medical devices. I know… if I wanted a medical device that’s what I would look for.

It’s always been the case where you can research information that is plain wrong or even intentionally misleading. You have to take a measured perception and decide whether the source is to be believed.

And I shouldn’t have to justify every query I make to the bloody computer. It’s not the AI’s job to give me a lecture about skewed ethics every time I have a technical question. We’re heading to a world where children will be raised by these answers and I think the constant caveats and safety nets do much more harm than help. Learning to be critical is much more important than learning to follow the forced ethics set by some corporate guidelines.

Not exactly sure what the server limits are but something like Valheim could work for a large group of people. It’s an open world sandbox so people can divide up and do whatever they want to on the same server (exploring, fighting, mining, building, farming, etc.) Not sure how far you can get in the game in 3 hours though…

Alternatively you could play some sort of team based shooter but there might be a stark skill difference in a competitive setting.

Apparently the star wars bf classic collection has a 32 player co-op mode vs ai which sounds amazing to me, but I’ve never tried it before

Along what others have mentioned, we still have the ‘Old lady sitting in front of the toilet building’. It’s less common these days but there are still some of these around in eastern Europe. She keeps the facilities clean(er) and takes money from entrants. They usually have a little stand or something.

I know it’s basically a physical impossibility but here hoping to another 89% in the next 10 years (compared to today)

I’m not very familiar with NextCloud but you can use something like duckDns to direct traffic to your ip for free. Still an actual domain is a bit nicer if you want to share the URL.

Artist are trying to get paid for people listening on Spotify, not the other way around.

I guess It’s like advertising your product on amazon so people buy from you not others, but somehow it feels stupid when you think about it in the context of a music streaming service.

I never understand this. Is someone paying for spotify to push their music on people?

Is this like the new mlm scheme where artists have to pay spotify first so the algorithm prioritizes their songs so they can earn that same money back?

I’m a bit of a noob so I ended up going with Ubuntu after trying a few other distros. I’m sure I could have fixed the issues I was having but it was easier to troubleshoot and find solutions online due to the larger install base.

Kidding aside usually this type of thing bothers me, for example I’m actively trying to find alternatives to Google services. But I feel like I’m not giving up that much information here.

Actually you are right, this is really annoying. Its also quite a “heavy” app, takes quite a while to start up, and I have to re-login constantly.

It sounds like it could easily run these. You could probably get away with a newer raspberry pi for them so the nuc should have no issues.

For reference the heaviest thing for me has been Home assistant os, which needs dedicated ram and cores for it’s VM. I’ve had no issues with running almost a dozen services on a 4790k based system along HA including: Immich, plex, radarr/sonarr/prowlarr/etc, usually a dedicated game server for Valheim or Minecraft or something, and some other lighter services.

I think ram (16gb) is going to be the limiting factor in my case but I haven’t hit that limit yet
