Not sure why you’re getting downvoted for correctly using the term and calling out the degenerates who self-insert as little girls everywhere.

Appreciate the opinion, I’m thinking I’m just going to go ahead and pick it up
Icarus looks interesting but I’ve been eyeing Enshrouded. My wife liked playing Volcanoids, Astroneer, Drake Hollow, Smalland, Conan Exiles, Dinkum, Palworld, and of course Stardew Valley, among others. Not sure which of those are on sale but check them out.
Ah yes like the Boeing employees who shot themselves in the head twice.
A lot of management are coming out of “business schools” that are little more than indoctrination. These people don’t know the difference between a leader and a manager and qualify as neither.
The kids really like the beat em ups like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Streets of Rage. They also like Wobbly Life and Wobbledogs (though you will probably want a mouse for that one). N+ was a hit too.
Of course I’ve got some emulated stuff too and you can’t go wrong with Super Mario World, Golden Axe, or Gauntlet Legends.
I’ve got some young kids and the Steam Deck makes it a lot easier to take them places and keep myself (or them) entertained. It also means I can get some game time in while they watch their shows.
Best part was taking it in vacation, plugging it into a TV, and using it like a console we all play together. It felt like I was sitting on the floor playing N64 with my siblings again lol.
I’ve loved having this thing. I still do more gaming on my PC but I’m glad I bought it.
GaaS is killing competition, imagine that.
More-or-less my wife’s situation. I feel for her and try my best to support her, but she’s miserable every working day for the same reasons as you. Maybe it’s time to grab a new job as an experienced tech or even a consultant?
Biggest thing I did to go from feeling like shit to actually feeling engaged was getting involved with my union. Life is so much more satisfying when you do something that matters, and when the existing union leadership who have been largely useless described me as “trouble” I felt validated lol.
Even if your union is running well they pretty much can always use an extra set of hands, so step up!
Audiophile equipment is just magic crystal bullshit for pseudointellectuals.
A few weeks ago the community manager of the Helldivers Discord got upset and deleted the whole thing. Years of discussions and knowledge (and memes) gone.
Naturally you can’t even bring up the idea that a Discord community takes on a life past its “owner” once it reaches a certain size or level of activity. “Your container, your rules” say the defenders unironically, while not acknowledging that you neither own the “server” nor make all the rules.
Containerization really is cool. The problem is that once you start you will get increasingly angry about all the game servers that just will not run that way, like Conan Exiles and Astroneer.
The bitter vets always whine about the newest MH but it ends up being just as good. Not to say there aren’t valid complaints (clutch claw wall ramming is too easy, MH3U underwater hunts felt pretty rough, etc) but I’ve been around since Freedom Unite and I always have a good time.
I will specifically note that Hunting Horn is so much nicer in Rise, wow.
A lot of new users are coming to Linux not because they like tinkering with their setup but because they are tired of Microsoft tinkering with their setup. For these people Arch will probably never be the answer. That’s ok, we should encourage all Linux adoption and the best way to do that is to start with the simple and familiar.
Volcanoids is a fantastic co-op game that I keep going back to. Also just started playing Hardspace: Shipbreaker, interesting so far.
My wife played Pokemon and Mario Kart before we dated. After dating for a bit she took a bit of interest in what I was playing and even started playing some games on her own.
My wife liked watching:
She joined me or played some others on her own:
The all-time winner was Breath of the Wild, she loved to watch and play it, and sometimes I watched her play it too. She solved problems in very different ways than I did and it was interesting. Example: my primary way to kill Guardians was to deflect blasts, while she just rode her horse at them and cut them apart. You can imagine how nuts Tears of the Kingdom has been lol.
I feel it might be worth mentioning she did not enjoy watching or playing:
If I had to guess at what these share in common, its a lack of story and NPC interactions, or pacing that makes it less interesting to watch.
I hadn’t actually realized the Virtuaverse album was for a game lol, I just really like MBR. I know they’ve got some songs in ULTRAKILL too.
Not a game suggestion but a music one: Master Boot Record. It should match your style I think.
I repair computers on the side and this exact issue happens so frequently I know some of the error codes that I dont bother trying to fix now. The sheer amount of Windows reinstalls I have to do… honestly its often faster than trying to fix the problem.
