Not sure about the second game, but when you beat the first one it would tell you how to unlock hard mode. And if you beat that, it would tell you how to adjust your max health and starting lives so you could give yourself even more of a challenge.

I see. Yeah, the end cursor can take some getting used to.
The thing that always messed me up when starting out was how deleting any text overwrites the clipboard. It was an odd quirk at first but I kind of like it now.

My current favorite is Slice & Dice
Then what kind should I use instead?
I have some good friends I met through concerts.
There are a couple smaller venues that fit a few hundred people that I frequent. When you catch a lot of shows in a particular genre and the crowd’s that small you’ll start to see some familiar faces at each show. You already have something in common which makes it easier to strike up a conversation.
One band I like plays three nights at this large amphitheatre every year, and you basically have to camp there since there aren’t any hotels nearby. So I’ve also met friends out there since you get a whole weekend to hang out and if you go every year you run into other people who go every year.

I just looked it up since I didn’t know but the Game Gear version definitely looks different from the Gameboy one I remember.
It’s the one I owned, haha.
I never played any of the other Bomberman games (until Super Bomberman R) so I’m not sure how it compares.
Aside from a few classics I’m sure you’ve already played, I remember playing Wario Blast and Taz-Mania fairly often.
I haven’t played either one in years, so I don’t know how well they still hold up.
What do you use instead?
Yeah, I use an old ID card to break up my coke instead
If you die from cancer you can’t die from a car wreck.
Mickey and Minnie’s Gift of the Magi says otherwise
