Both programs were developed to work on high end consumer laptops, which meant being able to work on IBM PC and therefore DOS.
Those programs also were likely 2D in their initial versions in the 1980’s. They were also competing against human drafting, which was considered to be industry standard at the time.
Cost and ease of use were likely more important than other potential users of 3D software, so they went with DOS and made the transition to Windows.
Neither Autodesk nor Bentley had a good economic reason to develop in Linux. Those companies also spend a lot of money on major clients to produce tools for them, which they then force all contractors to use.
At minimum, we would need AutoCAD, Microstation, and Projectwise. We also need these exact programs as our clients require our CAD submittals to be in specific formats.
We also need Bluebeam Revu for other client coordination.
Yeah, but I don’t want to flip through photos in GIMP.
This is a work problem and a lot of software we use isn’t supported on Linux.
It becomes a problem if you didn’t take the photos.
I’d just let it go. Why put so much effort into a group that doesn’t want your participation?
Lemmy is filled with political content. Voyager is probably just showing what is most popular if you are viewing all, which is going to show a lot of political content.
The best options is to curate a subscribed list or block political subs you don’t want to see.
This is the best you can do.
We get that it is the design philosophy for Mastodon to not have an algorithm serving content, but it appears to be a non-starter for a lot of users of Twitter like services.
In theory, a third party could write that algorithm and implement it in some form. Truth Social functions like that, but without federating to the rest of Mastodon.
More like Miami with less booze and weed.
In the long run, yes.
In the short term, no.
Theme parks is really only an Orlando thing. A large chunk of tourist Florida is hotels by the beach.
Any reason why in particular?
What kind of tourist traps?
Egypt is the kind of country where I want to see things in it, but I kind of want to get the sanitized experience if I go there.
I feel like you need to be in a certain mindset to enjoy a theme park like Disney World. If you aren’t in that mindset, the place is a saccharine place of over-stimulation.
It is a good comparison. There is a lot to see in both cities and they have good transit systems, but it can be really disorienting if you aren’t used to city life and the grime of cities is harder to hide.
I didn’t take the photos.
