  • There are carrier based services that do fuck all for spam calls, what you really need to get rid of them is Google Assistant call screening. Yes, Google is a giant evil corporation with anti-competitive monopolies and “AI” that will lead to the eventual destruction of the Internet we know and love, but their call screener is top notch. It answers the call and the spammers have to talk to a robot to get through to you. That’s cut down my spam call volume dramatically. And if it flags someone accidentally they just say who they are and I can decide to answer.

I was at a hardware store yesterday, locally owned. I didn’t look at the hours before I walked in but they started turning off lights within a few minutes of me walking in, so I walked out without buying anything and went to a big box store. I want to support the little guys, and I respect the time of the workers, but at some point I need to get the stuff I need and my hours at work to align exactly with the hours of the little guys. 🤷

  • War is horrific. If we deem a military is necessary to a peaceful society to protect from threats both domestic and foreign, then we should have a draft of ALL able adults, not just the poor and underprivileged. Rich folks, political folks, and otherwise connected individuals should be subject to be put on the front lines right next to the rest of us. What that means is we might rethink, as a nation, any military action. An all volunteer military would be the next most preferable one that is paid equal or greater to the national average income with full lifetime benefits including healthcare for the whole body including mind, teeth, eyes, etc., pension, free education including masters and doctorate level education, housing, as well as meeting other basic needs of life.

Anything less than that should be unacceptable.
