  • Bro they don’t share ANY similarities. Saying they’re similar because they all have “lots of sidequests” or “DLCs” is like saying Lord of the rings and Arthur Christmas are similar movies because they both have elves and an older mentor figure. I’m sorry but that’s just beyond ridiculous. Especially since you don’t seem to have any idea what their DLCs contain. And no I’m not saying that because I like all of those games, I only ever really got into botw, the other 3 either didn’t catch my attention or I tried them and couldn’t get into them, but I still know enough to know that calling them similar in this context is delusional, the only thing they vaguely share is the open world genre. They are extremely different games you couldn’t have chosen more different examples if you tried, I can think of a ton of non open world games that have more similarities with each.

  • Never said they were. But they were willing to offer the information at some point, would be nice for people who might need it if they provided an alternative source to find the information they’d already been willing to give in the past, if they were still willing to provide it. Hell, they can charge for it if they want, though considering Lemmy’s hard on for FOSS, they’d probably get dog piled for it harder than I did in this thread if they did.

I hope you at least provided those answers elsewhere.

Edit: I never said they were obligated to provide the info, but if they were willing to provide it before then I’m sure lots of people who relied on that info would be happy to have an alternative source for the same info, if the person I replied to was willing to provide it again. If not then that’s up to them. It’s not like I was demanding that they offer it.

  • Step away from it and avoid engaging. Let it fade into memory. Distract yourself with something you enjoy or find fun/entertaining. Don’t give them your attention or energy, and don’t go looking for more stuff that will make you mad. It’s hard but it does work if you stick with it and don’t let yourself get stuck thinking about it over and over. If absolutely necessary, vent about it to a friend, get the salt out of your system without inviting it into your life directly. Only engage with something that you think deserves your time and energy. Just because it’s a topic you give a shit about, that doesn’t mean that someone being a dickhead on the internet deserves any emotional investment or emotional labour from you. Not letting yourself engage with something that upsets you can feel frustrating at first, but after a while it will begin to feel very freeing. You will start to feel less obligated to devote too much mental real-estate to things that upset you and shitty people who don’t deserve the time of day from you. You will then feel less of that immediate urge to dive in and get involved in an argument, which will likely only upset you. Instead it gets easier to move on and let it fade to white noise in the backdrop of your thoughts, until it’s gone completely.

That was my experience at least when I started having this issue and decided to just stop getting into it with stupid online strangers.
