Right but a small company or even a group of people aren’t going to put resources into something that a few % of people use. Look at Linux, despite it being the most used operating system in the world, retail sticks to windows and Mac, so it just doesn’t get the same level of support.
I completely agree in the sense people should educate themselves and use products that benefit them and don’t abuse them, but people don’t. And because people don’t, companies won’t.
You said it better than I could
Most people don’t use federated services. I know it’s ironic that an open source project isn’t using open source channels, but sometimes it’s best to stick to services that are easy access and popular.
I’m sure if enough people got in contact about using open source communication they would likely attempt it.
I’ve found that the better I’ve gotten at writing prompts and giving enough information for it to not hallucinate, the better answers I get. It has to be treated as what it is, a calculator that can talk, make sure it has all of the information and it will find the answer.
One thing I have found to be super helpful with GPT4o is the ability to give it full API pages so it can update and familiarise it’s self with what it’s working with.
I emailed Microsoft to get my domain removed from their blacklist and it worked within 48 hours. Aslong as my domain has it’s correct security settings I no longer go to spam. Gmail didn’t seem to care as much.
Out of that list I use OVHCloud. Their VPS are built on Epyc (atleast they are in London), which gives very high performance for a low price.
In my opinion, the only acceptable way to eat most vegetables is roasted and seasoned. Frozen vegetables are easier to roast as they are part cooked before frozen.
If I go to a restaurant and I receive boiled vegetables I won’t go there again. Sick freaks.
It’s not that I’ve given in, I just simply do not care. But I respect the right to a users privacy and will happily fight to get that right for people. I personally just do not care however. I don’t really know why, It’s just not something that bothers me
Go on, you can’t call me dumb and not go into more detail
The way I see it is NSA have backdoors, Russian, British, Australia and Canadian etc agencies will also have backdoors, what’s one more?
I’m a big fan of Huawei products. Incredible build quality and reasonable prices. I personally don’t care if the CCP spies on me so it’s not a big issue for me.
Well kinda but not really, he owns around 4% of Reddit which is where the $193m comes from because of the $5b valuation.
Still, fuck spez
That’s fine for someone willing to read documentation, the average user would rather read a forum post, which Ubuntu has a shit load of posts about using and fixing it.
To add to that, there’s so much “support” out there for Debian and by proxy Ubuntu. You can Google any error and you’ll find the fix. That’s what draws new people to them. Even my self even though I’m not new to the Linux ecosystem. Ubuntu makes a perfectly good and stable server operating system.
Caddy makes it so you don’t have to understand reverse proxies to use them, the config is literally just "reverse_proxy " and then gives it a let’s encrypt SSL certificate. It’s beautiful for self hosting.
Additionally, using jottacloud with 2 VPS’s (one of them being built on epyc like from OVH cloud) can get you a really good download server and streaming server for about £30 a month, which is the same as having netflix and Disney plus, except now you can have anything you want.
I have a contabo 4core 8gb ram VPS that handles downloading content.
A OVH 4core 8gb VPS that handles emby (I keep trying to go back to jellyfin but it’s just slightly slower than emby at transcoding and I need to squeeze as much performance out of my VPS as possible so… Maybe one day jelly)
And I have a really good streaming experience with subtitles that don’t put big black boxes on the screen making 1/8th of the screen non viewable.
Mastercam does pretty well once you force it to use hardware accelleration
