Only picked it up a few days ago.

I went the dumb phone route in March of 2023 because I was constantly scrolling or getting distracted while I was out with my wife. (Still use my iPhone on WiFi at home). Found that it worked well for me, but there would be the occasional question I’d have and have no way to look it up besides asking to borrow my wife’s phone.

She got annoyed, so I got the Rabbit used on eBay for $130. Got a $5/mo sim for it. I think it’s made a lot of improvement since initial launch comparing my experience to reviews. Battery life is well over a day for me, and I haven’t had it glitch out too terribly. Even the scroll wheel isn’t as bad as they say.

You just have to assume that 20% of the time, it’s entirely wrong. Like Diane Keaton wasn’t in 1989’s Parenthood, it was Diane Wiess.

I bought it under the assumption that the company would fold in a year or so, but there’s already a community rooting them and installing base Android. For $130, it’s worth whatever I can get out of it.

Yeah I think they needed horsepower to run some sophisticated models in Matlab, and Apple had a killer educational discount.

Just seemed odd to pay your way into the Apple ecosystem just to wipe it and install Ubuntu

I remember having my mind blown in college when I saw a Mac Pro tower running Ubuntu in a lab.

Technically LBJ killed the small truck with the chicken tax. If nobody can afford to import reasonably sized European and Asian trucks, we’re left with whatever the big three churn out.

The only thing I can think about is if you billed to a university address. A couple electronics outlets I shopped at would give discounts for students and universities.

I think it’d be pretty easy to argue that something is fishy when the phone that’s supposed to be tracking your driving wasn’t with you on the date of your accident and hasn’t moved since you started your policy.

I’d recommend Ubuntu mostly because it’s going to be the easiest to get working. I recently started playing with Proton on Ubuntu, and it was surprisingly painless. There’s been a lot of improvement over the past few years.

Take a look at https://www.protondb.com/ and search for your games. It’ll let you know how difficult they are to get working and give you tips on helping them run.

There’s stock magnifier support. It’s not great to be honest, but it does allow you to enable crosshairs that will make it easy to find your cursor.

A little more searching found Magnus which might be a better option.

It’s also pretty trivial to install gnome tweaks https://itsfoss.com/gnome-tweak-tool/ and install custom theme elements like high contrast icons and cursors that can help.

Never beat it as a kid, finally 100%ed it when 3D all stars came out.

Honestly? If feels very rushed. Elements like Yoshi are hardly used, the final boss stage is short and finicky, the pachinko machine is 100% broken, and the blue coin collection is needlessly difficult and unrewarding.

I think when I first played it I was blown away by how good it looked, but playing as an adult, I’m more just disappointed in how messy and unrefined it can be at times.
