Proxies aren’t bad they are just dated.
Ironically the big problem with proxies is really that software doesn’t support them properly, usually due to lazy or unknowing devs.

My guess is either their landlord, their hospital, their bank, their supermarket, or their college. Not an actual gun, just metaphorical. A lot of drivers are just desperate to make ends meet however they can. There’s a lot of shit to be said about the gig economy, but it does provide flexible schedules, and while some people just want to monetize as much of their time as possible, some people actually need to.
Originally they were going to make it 418mL but they just ended up with cans of spiked tea.
From a matter of convenience I could actually appreciate what they are trying to do.
Binge watching TV on disc, especially DVD, is frustrating. If you aren’t using the extra content (such as commentary), streaming is much better, as you can binge more episodes at a time or watch certain episodes without having to switch discs.
If I was unaware this was available on a streaming service I had, I’d appreciate the reminder. But I’d appreciate it more at or before the main menu, not during the content, and certainly not more than once (or reset when the disc is removed).
There’s other factors than just brushing your teeth but brushing is probably the easiest factor that most people can reasonably take control of.
Genetics, obviously you can’t do much about. But you can avoid sweets and decide not to get pregnant (hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause mouths to get more acidic and make plaque harder to remove, and can also soften the gums and bones that hold teeth in, or even weaken the teeth directly). Also, if you want nice teeth, it’s especially important to abstain from smoking crystal meth. And that’s even more important during pregnancy.
But telling everybody “brush twice a day for two minutes” is a small ask with huge returns.
Guidance for preschools around me is for them to brush kids teeth after every meal that’s served at school.
That was recently reinstated after being suspended for a couple years and the teachers are practically (as much as they legally can) begging the parents to sign the waivers to opt their kids out of it. I don’t blame them. It seems excessive and it’d take a ton of time for two teachers to scrub a dozen or so sets of toddler teeth, while also controlling said toddlers while they wait for everyone to finish.
Really?
I’ve heard some really mixed reviews on it.
How much is a Magimix? An entry-level Vitamix is “only” $300, but when I compare that to the amount I spent on my Ninja and various other sub-$100 blenders that I’ve burnt through or broken down in the amount of time I’ve owned my base-model vitamix, $300 is a fucking bargain.
Went out to a pizza place the other night. Thought it was a brewery (one of my favorite local brews, actually), and had been there before and enjoyed flights from them…only to find out the place was a joint between the brewmaster and the restaurateur. Brewmaster took his share, his recipes, and dipped a couple days prior.
Anyways while the food was pretty good, I mostly went for the beer and that’s a big part of why I won’t go back (they only had a couple cans from the brewery left and nothing on tap, only some other regional breweries).
But the other part is that my wife put a tip down on the slip for our party of four (us and two kids) and asked me to doublecheck her math. I thought it seemed high and it turned out they already put a tip on the bill. For a party of four. Never saw that before.
Oh, yes, little B😉bby ┬──┬s, we call him.
This. Jeans are also far more comfortable on the 2nd+ wear.
I’m a big fan of retired systems for every day use. A 14 year old server has more function as a space heater and whitenoise generator than a desktop, though.
7th-8th gen Intel retired corporate desktops and laptops from Dell/Lenovo/HP are a dime a dozen on eBay man. Lenovos tend to run Linux very well out of the box. And Linus himself sent his daughter to college with a Dell XPS.
Large smart appliances aren’t dumb about what they do. I have LG smart dishwasher and washer/dryer…can’t remote start any of them unless I power them on and press the remote start button and shut the door first.
If the door opens again, then remote start gets locked out again, until the remote start button gets pressed on the console.
Also, people talk shit but I love getting a push when the washer/dryer/dishwasher is done, or when the kids leave the fridge door open. And tossing a quilt/blanket/comforter in the dryer and hitting “remote start” before leaving for the day, and then turn it on to tumble a bit on your way home so you can just snuggle up with a fresh hot blanket is next-level living my man.
One thatsurprisingly can’t be solved by electric blankets, since most default to “off” when power is restored, so you can’t use them effectively with a smart plug.
Many WMs allow for moving a window by holding alt, left-clicking anywhere in the window, and dragging it to move, by default.
Some use Super+Drag. They usually also have resizing the window by right-click-dragging.
That’s great and all…but Alt-Drag is missing.
I’ve honestly been using Linux on and off for nearly 25 years, and daily the past 6 or so…and somehow just found out about this, and now my life is changed.
Sorry thought it was well-known enough without additional context (talking about switch in gaming community). I was going to mention this was 2020 for added context because ACNH launch was exceptionally huge because of Covid lockdowns.
Sharing isn’t the problem. 4 year olds aren’t the most responsible or capable of keeping track of small objects.
I can’t tell you the places I’ve found Odyssey, and that’s his favorite game. And 3D All Stars is completely missing, which I’m still really upset about.
They gonna fix sharing digital games with family members? Or do I have to keep cartridges around so my 4yo can pop them out and lose them?
Crazy to think that when I bought a lot of my digital games, I wouldn’t have expected a second kid who wants to play them on a separate switch. Now my saves are all fucked because he’s gotta play them on my profile on the second switch. I bought that switch because my wife and I both wanted to play ACNH, which was also bullshit. And then I got stuck with the Lite because we couldn’t migrate her island over, which was also bullshit.
There’s no reason we can’t share digital libraries with households. Amazon does it.
Martini. Marti for short, which has the benefit of being ungendered.
On the windshield I’m totally okay with this type of vandalism. It cleans up easily with alcohol and everyone will know this guys a douche canoe until he can do it.
