Yep, nothing beats Sync, although the other existing apps are great, and have been great since the beginning if you ask me.

If you wanna know why I chose Sync instead of any other app is because the damn app can survive even the worse ROM you use and it doesn’t matter how atrocious your RAM management is, you are likely never gonna miss the position you left when you minimize and open other apps.

The app basically saves the state where you were and it is highly unlikely that you lose the track of it, even on aggressive RAM management ROMs like MIUI, it still stands better than the others, I experienced the same with Sync for Reddit.

  • I think the handheld era is my favorite, it basically ended with the 3DS, but it is the DS which I really can’t put down, I am playing for the first time Chrono Trigger on it, and it is my Jump Ultimate Stars machine (Wimmfi), also have some other bangers as well, but I’ll bore you if I citate them all.

But hey, don’t get me wrong, the current handheld era is good too, we have the Switch, The Steam Deck and a plethora of good quality Chinese handhelds.

  • If this is some kind of question like “you can only play this in your lifetime” I’d pick up a DSi XL or closely a 3DS, I enjoy the DS library more, so it would be a downgrade doing it there, unless things have changed since the last time I checked.

The reasons are simple, it has tons of great titles and many of them have a high replayability value.

  • That you didn’t like them doesn’t mean they sucked, look along this thread and you’ll find ppl sharing titles worthwhile back then (me included), ofc, this is not GOTY material, but a game must not be a masterpiece in order to be enjoyable, which ultimately is what all games are for, to be an enjoyable hobby.

The longest I stuck with the franchise was through Metroid Prime Hunters for the DS, and it wasn’t the graphics or the game itself that captivated me (although both are awesome, ngl) but the online capabilities and gameplay, I have not even finished the game, only played several minutes of the campaign (which maybe I am not missing out of much here, as I have read it is one of the weakest), and yet I have had more than 500 hrs of playtime thanks to the multiplayer, which I still used even after the closure of the servers thanks to Wiimmfi.

For me the gameplay with the stylus as the main aim control is the best the DS can offer to have a proper and fast paced aim, if you could search for some of the crazy stuff that the pro players managed with this game on YT and how hardcore it can get for this hardware in those days, you’d be surprised, here is a video that comes at the top of my mind, and it is a recent one too, also the sniper battles (imperialist) were pretty awesome.

With that said, I know the franchise and what it means for everyone, I appreciate it that much that I refuse to even play more metroidvanias without finishing Super Metroid (and Castlevania Symphony of The Night while we are at it).

  • I can’t post about game impressions that often because I am very slow at my gaming… With that said I just finished The Last Window for Nintendo DS again (remember next to nothing about the plot) and god I had a blast with it!

I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a visual novel, but it would be wiser to play Hotel Dusk first if you haven’t yet, as The Last Window is a sequel.
