It is the same/similar problem that Nokia/Maemo and Sailfish/merOS have all had.

Some things are binary-blobs + NDAs and many things are still locked, the OSS community can only do so much before they hit the commercial roadblocks.

We need a complete CoreBoot + OSS silicon-chips + OSS firmware + all-community / all-commercial dual production lines.

The open-source-based company should be able to sell both the commercial locked-version and the oss-all-unlocked-version with the ability to switch infinitely between the two models.

But the world of electronics rarely will ever work or reach that level of interoperability , repairability or recycling this way. Not for a long time maybe in some distant future.

Any sanitation worker, sewage diver, drain block remover, in most of the third-world countries.

We need city drainages to be repaired, cleaned, maintained, and managed with draconian safety, extremely well-compensated, hazardpay up the wazoo workers comp and complete-healthcare all covered for life. So many workers are just abused for the lifeline work that keep a city’s arteries from getting clogged and flowing smoothly.

I saw how Korean drain-workers do it with high-pressure water jets and incredible efficiency and knowhow talent of their vital job. I wish we didnt have the corruption that prevents this type of training, trained worker, worker pride in the essential labour that they do.

Same goes for recycling and reducing waste. We humans don’t do nearly enough and the Top-20 major corporations that cause 80% of worldwide pollutants go unchecked and unpunished.

Despite the name, it is rare for the forces to completely balance, and real-world recoilless rifles do recoil noticeably (with varying degrees of severity).

Even after using CPAN ? I found Perl to be much more “manageable” than Python.

Python with Venv and Pip at least works as expected. Which makes it easier.

I found installing Go-sdk a total PiTA. It is okay as a developer environment. But bash + gnu utils + core utils seem much more sane to me.

Of course I mostly work with Linux systems and hardly ever have to deal with Scripting for Windoze.

I’ve been on Steam+Proton for more than 3 years now. So many many games are now supported. It is usually the DRM kernel anti-cheats that are Windoxez only tend to be the broken ones. I dont buy or care about games that run anti-cheat in Windoze kernel.

No idea as I have Wayland disabled from install. Wayland packages based on distros are probably compatible with X11/Xorg packages installed side-by-side. Choose whichever suits your needs. If you like Wayland or X it will be your choice.

No one in the Linux community wants to force users onto Linux. If they do that, then they are morons and should not be listened to.

Windows is blatantly forced on users through monopolistic practices and underhanded dealings going back decades.

I know what I actively will choose. Also it is my choice. It doesnt have to be your choice or even the right choice. Choose what you want and what you need. No one in the Linux community can or will force you to switch to Linux.

Instead of VNC can I recommend running xRDP ?

VNC over SSH is secure, but VNC over network is inherently insecure and exposes plaintext passwords.

For some of us, X11/Xorg is better , way way better than using Wayland.

Linux means we should have a choice without sacrificing our freedom. So if I want to use X11/Xorg or Wayland, I SHOULD MAKE THAT DECISION.

Only way I can get SysVInit back is if I use Slackware, Devuan , so a complete switch of distro and tools. No choice no freedom.

I can tell you for a fact, in 1999, we were running Windows3.11 and MSDOS 5.x on a brand-new Pentium II ? or something like that, because the DSP-board and daughter-card system didn’t like Win2k. We were all on the network. Everyone ran Win2k Pro while loading the test codes via network / SMB/CIFs share to that machine.

Same could be done using Linux on all those systems except for the test rig.

NO YOU DO NOT have to use Windows on your desktop just for your toolchain. Put that shit on a separate test-rig and isolate it.

Best Practices and Good Standard procedures makes it possible to use Linux on the Desktop.

It is a matter of ability and talent to do things properly using the best tools at any given time.

Kickbacks from MicroShaft to all C-suite and “special” org-wide discounts if they disband and ban Linux desktop projects.

Even though Linux corporate desktop has the least cost, least number of tickets, least security breaches, fastest transparent updates, easiest automation/customization/tracking, everything is cheaper secure no-brainer no-headaches.

Top-level execs still get to play with their Mac-books and Windoze systems. Linux for the rest of us. But no, all banned for Windox on all systems… security/BSODs/threats incoming 3…2…1… nobody in C-suite cares… they got their paychecks!!!

WSL2 exists for the very reason, if you hate using Windblows, you can install Linux OS on top and do everything from the Linux VM. Why even bother struggling with Windozes interface and software ?

Corpo sabotage of opensource. So many community projects are under the thumb of corpo insiders. It was a “cash-grab” a way to shoehorn and takeover an essential but mostly unchanged and stable Init system. And they shimmed that into everything they could ram it into with no options or alternatives.
