sounds like something is going seriously wrong, you should never really be having to deal with this stuff (ive been using arch and the AUR for several years and never have). Im not sure it its a steam deck thing or what. Only thing I can say is make sure to always run sudo pacman -Syu before you install a new package.

Starting with a blank slate is so refreshing. It takes time to build everything up from scratch and I understand that you can get a great experience out of the box with other distros, but I love the simplicity of not having any bullshit I didn’t install myself.
I dont have a chance to check specifics but if theres no way to do it using the gui you can try the xrandr command. it has lots of options for screen positioning and the like.
