Not sure if this is a perfect fit, but I use http-server when I need to spin up something super rudimentary that works out of box.
Edit: sorry, no UI for that one, but the commands for it are pretty simple to understand. You could try something like XAMPP instead. Portainer is nice for spinning stuff up quickly, but it has a slightly steeper learning curve.
I should note that you can run this in any folder you want to serve files from.
Shit in, shit out. That’s AI. You can’t guarantee a single thing it says is true, and you have to play whack-a-mole forever to get it to behave. Imagine knowing this and still investing time and money in it. We could be investing that in education and making the human experience better, but instead we’re stuck watching capitalists harness it to replace people, and shove half-baked ideas out the door as finished products.
Look, I love tech. I’ve worked in tech for 20 years. I’ve built apps that use AI. It’s the one tech that I despise watching capitalists have control of. It’s just chatbots all the way down that don’t know what they’re regurgitating, and eventually they’re going to be vacuuming up nothing but other AI content. That is going to be the future. Just bots talking to other bots. Everything completely devoid of humanity.
Project Zomboid. That’s the most recent game I can think of where I reduced the difficulty (and that’s coming from someone that has nearly 400 hours into Elden Ring). It’s not that the game is tougher than ER or anything like that. It has a ton of cool mechanics and detail that are really enjoyable if you’re into zombie survival games, but the zombies can really swarm you in that game and you won’t live long.
It also has sandbox mode where there’s no zombies and you can focus on farming, building, etc.
You should still celebrate. It’s a win for the working class collective.
What I usually do is change every Steam game to use the “Experimental” version of Proton. As soon as I enable that, basically any game in my library becomes installable. Even non-Steam games can be added in and use Proton iirc. My success rate has been pretty good, but some games are still a little rough (mostly lack of controller support, or things like traversing dumb launchers like in GTA).
I recently moved my ASUS ROG Zephyrus entirely over to Linux and it’s been seamless. I’ve been able to play every game without issue. Between my Steam Deck and the laptop, my console days may be numbered.

It introduced me to Sea of Stars and I could not stop playing that game until I completed the story. It made me envy every person that backed the Kickstarter and finally got to play it for the first time. I adore Gamepass for gems like that. You and I could probably exchange suggestions for those 4-5 hour, small indie team games. They’re passion projects for people. I find so much soul and love in those small games.
For example, I haven’t yet played Botany Manor, but still have it installed for when it comes to me. My wishlist on there is huge. I’ll spend 15 minutes sometimes going through every game to add things. My wife will play the same couple games for months and really delve into them. I have a constant rotation of 5-10.

I have friends still dealing with all kinds of airline troubles (basically stuck in cities for a week past their return date) and I can’t believe anyone would have so many mission-critical systems using Windows. Their infrastructure must be a mess.
The real solution is to not make anything that’s mission-critical reliant on Windows.
A backup plan probably involves using some other company/service that can suffer the same fate 😭
It’s what happens when you put too many eggs in one basket. You see a similar house of cards when you look at package managers in the software dev space. Single point of failure.
The reality though is that Windows computers not running the CrowdStrike agent were not affected. This one falls on CS, but there is a much larger problem at play. Also, auto-updates are a plague, especially on a kernel level. That’s just insanity.
It’s fun and simple. I feel like it’s pretty in line with the vibe you’re looking for. Someone else suggested Dave the Diver and that one is a great recommendation.
Windows has basically become malware. It does a fuck ton of tracking, and all of its features are about appeasing shareholders over users.
If we want to get technical: I loathe it because even in the year 2024, it’s the only operating system I’ve witnessed that will absolutely grind to a halt when a third party application stops responding or crashes. There is no valid fucking reason why the parent system should be halted by an application that crashes.
Also, ads in the start panel. Absolutely not, Microsoft. No way in hell am I allowing that to live on a computer I own. Yes, I’m aware third party apps will address that but it shouldn’t be a thing to begin with.
Oh yeah, and it decided to automatically update itself to the latest version on my ASUS ROG laptop while the thing was closed and not in use. So upon booting it up and seeing ads in the UI, I wiped the system clean and installed Nobara. Bye bye. 👋

Definitely Shadow of the Erdtree! I’ve already beaten the Dancing Lion boss. Just started playing WoW Classic again too and found a guild filled with super nice people. So that’s been fun.
My (non-)issue is more with the fact that she looks too polished for a character that exists in a post-apocalyptic world. Both her clothes and some facial characteristics, like the perfect eyebrows.
This game is already great IMO. It really doesn’t need a remaster.
