Windows Vista → Debian (pre-systemD) → Devuan → Void Linux.
I don’t like systemD.
I still have Windows installed as a dual boot setup for Adobe CC.
all i do is crunch numbers and eat wood glue.

That’s one of the most insane links I have ever seen. I’m scared to click it.
But I second a ThinkPad.
You did fine, as a new user I am surprised that you even attempted to get to the console and so on.
With forcefully powering off, the biggest (or I guess most likely) thing that could happen is losing data. As long as your install wasn’t working on updates or major system configuration changes, you’ll probably be fine in that regard; it would boot back up just fine.
GG.
Works on LineageOS 21.
Check your keyboard layout. Perhaps add whatever language keyboard you are looking to use the characters from? In my case, I couldn’t find a Welsh keyboard but the UK English keyboard has keystrokes for characters like ŵ. That could potentially be an option.
Worth a quick check. Things can be DOA.
Debian I think? Probably Debian Wheezy.
Edit: All thanks to my college professor.
I worry about it inflating. “Spicy pillow” or whatever.
I’ve worry about the battery, being plugged in for ages, without some sort of additional BMS like AccA.
The only thing I need on Windows is the Adobe suite for my uni graphic design stuff. I could use GIMP, darktable, Krita, etc, but my lectures teach us how things work on the Adobe suite. I use FOSS when it is for personal stuff though.
Oh neat, what directory?
Edit: sp
I find my T480s really fits my lightweight usecase. Hope you enjoy yours.
I miss Debian sometimes, but systemD irks me.
but many things I use daily simply don’t work with it
Out of curiosity, what doesn’t work? And do you mean with musl
or Void in general?

is absolutely lovely. It may not have concurrent downloads, but it manages to be quick anyway!
I like Void because it makes me quirky.
Just kidding.
I like Void because it makes me quirky, doesn’t require me to learn how systemD works, AND it is lightweight! Plus it has literally never broken on me.
One of the pages on the site you’ve linked mentions Debian having Plasma Bigscreen in the package repo, so I imagine you can just download it on anything that runs the right instruction set. (armv7, amd64, etc. I am not sure what the package is built for.)
Following this, commenting for visibility.
There are purposes for it, but with the power it would use for basic tasks, I think it is better recycled.
