Awesome! I found https://stormthecastle.com/mead via the sidebar of the old meadmaking subreddit and still go back to reference the tutorials and recipes occasionally. Seems like the only community on Lemmy is https://sopuli.xyz/c/homebrewing (or [email protected] I guess, thanks bot), but it’s a big one.
This was one of my favourite recipes posted on the old orange site (luckily it was crossposted to imgur): https://imgur.com/gallery/neon-knights-indigo-mead-D0IAs
I really enjoyed learning to homebrew, and my family and friends really enjoyed drinking the mead I’ve made. You can homebrew all sorts of stuff, too - beer and wine of course, but also kombucha and ginger ale (edit: and cider! Thanks /u/cyberpunk007). I’m looking at professional kit for my next batch which is going to be a few hundred dollars at least of steel, but my first fermentation tubs were something like $35.
My only up-front recommendation would be to get a conical fermenter as it minimises loss when racking/bottling.

Man, most bands start as a group of friends playing together for fun. Yes, sucking isn’t fun - the fun comes from surmounting those obstacles and seeing yourself improve. I sucked at Dark Souls when I first picked it up, but I wanted to be good, so I sat down and practiced parrying against basic enemies until I could get it consistently. I suck at guitar too, it hurts my fingers and makes my hands cramp and it wasn’t worth it to me to push through that to get good.
You know what I did about it? I sold my guitar on craigslist and moved on. I didn’t go on the internet and whine about it, nor did I get impudent with people who took the time to offer me advice - really rather good advice, in this thread. Your attitude sucks. Adjust that, and then either sit down and practice or find a new hobby. Nobody gives a shit that being bad makes you sad.
Boss Bitch
Tell you what: you go host that instance, with no pearl-clutching. Don’t worry about any knocks at the door, or federal agents abseiling through your windows. You don’t clutch no pearls, right?
That’s true, I didn’t notice that it was part of the cart with a (discounted) price. It looked like an optional extra that could be added. Makes the whole thing a nothingburger. Yet again, a derp is me - at least I have a few dozen friends in the same boat this time!
Edit: yeah, I am derp, the protection plan is part of the cart and is what makes the “member” price higher without the discount. Leaving my original response in case anyone doesn’t know what would be illegal, if it was actually happening here
~~This is, in fact, actively illegal. Companies cannot advertise a “sale price” under a number of circumstances, such as when the price is the same absent the sale (e.g. there’s no actual discount) or when the price was artificially raised just prior to the “sale”: https://content.next.westlaw.com/practical-law/document/I6dfb3ee4077511e89bf099c0ee06c731/Beware-of-the-Sale-Complying-with-Promotional-Pricing-Guidelines~~
In this case, the “regular” or non-member price was raised precisely 0 seconds before applying the uh… “discount”. Pretty cut-and-dry violation by any metric.
Same here. But also, who cares? Nobody worth listening to is going to judge you for the phone you have.
As to the question, a light touch with a rotary tool might get it off without damaging the case itself too much. Or, do you have a laser etcher, or a machine shop with one nearby?
there will be chaos and so many rubber ducks in random places.
I now have you tagged as James Veich.
I understand being too freaked out to ask how he knew you, plus probably not wanting the interaction and having to get back to work, but like… damn. I know I’d have asked, I’d be too curious not to and I’d feel bad for blanking him if we did know each other. My partner hates that I engage with randoms like that though, so maybe I’m too blase about it?
Not since the war started and they all got sent to the front (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
As a fellow Windows user tipping ever further towards finally making the switch, this resonates on a lot of levels. Also I saw what you did with the “company called Linux” thing and thought it was funny 🙌
Teslas were the “best”, as in the only option for what they did
Yeah, the problem here is definitely me, and nothing to do with your attitude. Excellent work, Poirot.
Lol. The whole reason we’re here is because reddit sucks, my guy. This is /c/mildlyinfuriating , not /c/statusquo - don’t come flying in here like Captain Obvious, then act all incensed that nobody’s surprised.
Hard agree. I vividly remember having such a blast tossing enemies around with the Force, but if I think just a little harder I remember the jank and clunk of everything around those moments. It was fun for the time, but with the sheer explosion of truly outstanding games in recent years it wouldn’t stand a chance of catching any attention if it was released today.
